5th - 8th Grade
Before School & After School Programs
Our school age children are excited to be in the "Big Kids" Group.
They're excited because they are at the top of the mountain. Being at the top means participating in more advanced projects and activities. 4th - 6th grade kids also give back to the other groups, and learn how rewarding it is to help out friends.
Our goal is to prepare our 5th - 8th graders for the life challenges and choices they will face when they move on from SCATZ.
We do this by:
- Helping children plan their daily routines, that they agree to follow.
- Teaching children study skills that will allow them to succeed in the classroom.
- Establishing a positive attitude towards educational priorities including; homework, projects, and tests.
- Teaching children how to be responsible and accountable for themselves, their actions and others in our program.
- Having children create their own reward system that they follow.
- Showing children what it means to have character, integrity and be honest.
- Allowing children to express their individuality in a comfortable environment.
- Teaching what it means to be a great friend, and how to build strong relationships.
- Create and participate in activities that help children think “outside the box".
By the time our 4th - 6th graders graduate elementary school they will be equipped and ready to take on the world of Jr. High and life.
A Quick Glimpse of What Our "School Day" is Like:

- Once the 5th - 8th graders arrive at SCATZ (about 2:30pm) they’re first priority is complete their homework.
- Our staff monitors and guides children to complete their homework in a 45 min to an hour block of time.
- Our Staff does not complete your child's homework, they help promote independence by navigate through the words, ideas and problems a 5th - 8th graders might not understand. Our children can truly say they completed their own homework!
- After Homework time is complete the children enjoy a healthy snack of fruits and/or veggies.

- Children they play an array of group games that help our 4th through 6th graders foster team unity, collaboration, and trust.
- Activities include: soccer, football, capture the flag, baseball, zombie tag, Hunters & Werewolves and other team sports.

- Where the children learn about cool things in science, art, math, literature and history.
- Some of the activities include Physics drawings and challenges, personal heart pillows, number challenges, word master, charades and much more.
- After the children have enjoyed their time doing activities and playing games we come inside and unwind with card & board games, computer learning games, fun drawings/coloring.
- As we say our goodbyes to our friends we tell our parents the fun things we did that day, and what fun and exciting things we will do the next day!
We then get ready for another fun filled day!
